Vision for Children at Risk (VCR) promotes the well-being of children, youth and their families, targeting particularly those young people who face serious socioeconomic risks and racial inequity. We do this by informing the community with data and policy information, driving collaborative action among key stakeholders, and advocating for greater strategic community investment. VCR works to ensure that the fundamental needs of all area children are met.

We believe:

  • All children deserve the opportunity to grow up in a safe, supportive home and receive good health care, quality education and other necessities.
  • Collaboration and a regional approach are essential if we are to make a significant impact on the needs of children and make best use of our resources. Stakeholders must work together on a common agenda.
  • Strategic action should be based on firm data, draw on best practices and have measurable outcomes. This ensures that any new programs have a sound foundation.
  • The well-being of children is essential to the overall economic health and quality of life of the region. Children who grow up in a healthy, supportive environment become more productive citizens and make our region stronger and more viable as a place to live and do business.
