The Stepping Up for Kids Awards Luncheon celebrates the amazing stories of resource families and front-line agency staff who give outstanding service to children in foster and adoptive care. Missouri First Lady Sheena Greitens will be our guest speaker, and Debbie Monterrey of KMOX returns as emcee.

Six 2016 Stepping Up for Kids Award recipients were honored at the annual luncheon on Oct. 7 attended by some 270 guests. Judge Missey gave stirring remarks affirming the efforts of social workers and others in the child welfare field “as a force for good” for those facing challenges. He also referred to his personal campaign to secure more foster homes in Jefferson County, so children in foster care can stay in the same school district and neighborhood. Thanks also to the Riverview Gardens High School Musical Ensemble for some great jazz entertainment.
